Guild Alive with Culture 2012

Guild Alive with Culture 2012This year, our showcase event will move from August to July, in hope of better weather! Mark your calendars – you won’t want to miss The Guild – Alive with Culture – An Arts Festival in the Gardens of the Guild, Saturday July 28th 10am to 7pm, and Sunday July 29th 10am to 5pm.

We are thrilled that The Olde Stone Cottage Pub will be offering a very tasty menu on-site, and in addition, serving beer and wine (a first for this event)! And because the Guild Festival Theatre will be performing at the Greek Theatre on the Saturday evening, the Stone Cottage food, beer and wine will remain open later on Saturday evening, so you can enjoy supper prior to the theatre (tickets available from the Guild Festival Theatre). We are sure many of the artists will keep their booths open after 5 PM on the Saturday as well.

In 2012, your Guild Renaissance Group increased its participation in the event, and is now listed with Paul Ainslie as co-presenters of the event. In addition to our ongoing roles of planning, community groups, and event treasurer, we are now responsible for fundraising, and are taking a more active part in set-up and liason.

The July weekend should be a real treat. Circulate amid the splendour of the Guild Gardens and view the offerings of a variety of artists, painters, potters, jewelers and fabric artists. Cedar Ridge Creative Centre and Gallery will provide demos of many of their class offerings. A variety of entertainment will again be showcased at the Greek Theatre. Learn about various community groups. Special features will focus on younger visitors. Remember, both admission to the festival and parking remain free.

Visit our Guild Renaissance Group booth, see our archival display, our beautiful fundraising prints of summer and winter views of the Guild Inn, and chat with our volunteers. We look forward to seeing you and your family and friends at this exciting event!
